Fan Mail

Dear Jessica Ruliffson,

Thank you for your application to Atlantic Center for the Arts’ Artists-in-Residence program. Unfortunately, you were not selected to be an Associate Artist with Master Artist Paul Pope. There were a great many qualified applicants and the selection process was quite extensive.

Your application materials will be returned to you if you enclosed a self-addressed, stamped envelope. If you did not do so, your materials will be kept on file for six weeks. It is your responsibility to make arrangements for their return. After six weeks from the date of this letter all files will be purged. Atlantic Center for the Arts assumes no responsibility for the cost of returning any application materials.

Thank you for your interest in our residency programs. Please do not be discouraged by this notification, as ACA’s residency program has become very competitive in recent years. We hope you consider applying to one of our future residency programs. The residency calendar is online at www.atlanticcenterforthearts.org

Thank you for your application and your interest in Atlantic Center for the Arts.

Sincerely,

Jill Keller
Program Administrative Coordinator

Hey Hey

It's my birthday today. I got up at 5am and made some funny self portraits. I have been thinking alot about Margaret Kilgallen, who is one of my favorite artists. She lived in the Mission in San Francisco and played the banjo and wrote on trains and painted funny ladies and pretty leaves. She died of breast cancer three weeks after her daughter was born in 2001. I have wanted to do a portrait of her for awhile, and am really happy with this piece.

Some Fun Brush Pen Drawings

I drew these on Saturday at my friend Diana Ho's, listening to Radiolab. I have a crush on Jad Abumrad, even though he looks like Woody Allen and John Cusack put together. It was fortunate I knocked these out all at once, because the following three days were spent in bed with a fever. I'm all better now, though! Etching is not going well at all. It will get better. Just a heads up, I will probably be taking down much of the stuff on my website right now and replacing the gouache with ink and digital work. The gouache will be probably tucked in there somewhere though so don't get too sad.

More Skateboard Action

I spent way too much time on this. I am kinda over this thing. It still isn't totally amazing.

On the neater side, I am working on another design for the same client and have some other stuff to post tomorrow.
